CHUV - Centre hospitalier universitaire vaudois

Graduate Research Intern

March 2020 - August 2020 (5 months)

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Through its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne, CHUV plays a role of Europe-wide advanced in the areas of medical care, medical research and training.

With this internship, I was offered a great opportunity to further explore the results of the work done in my previous exchange project in EPFL, where I developed RimNet, a network able to automatically detect rim positive lesions in Multiple Sclerosis MRI. During the course of this internship, I will explore the prediction capabilities of more complex contrasts and the challenges that ultra-high-field MRI poses to RimNet.

Herta Security

Undergraduate Research Intern

June 2019 - September 2020 (3 months)

Herta Security is a world leader in the development of cutting edge facial recognition solutions. Based in Barcelona, Spain, – with offices in Madrid and London -, the company offers fast, accurate, robust, end-customer oriented solutions for video surveillance, access control, and marketing requirements.

In Herta, I worked conducting research on tracking algorithms. During my internship, I explored all phases of research, starting with the collection and annotation of data. Then, I delved into state-of-the-art algorithms and implemented them with python. Finally, I developed and validated a new tracking algorithm, which achieved very good results. We also wrote a paper with the results and submitted it to a computer vision conference.

Universitat de Barcelona

IT Support

September 2018 - June 2019 (10 months)

Universitat de Barcelona is a public university located in Barcelona, Spain, that offers a wide number of studies.

My responsibilities in Universitat de Barcelona as IT support included the surveillance of an IT room with 30 computers and the support to its users.

Junior Full Stack Developer

July 2015 - Jun 2016 (1 year) is an online Marketplace to meet the best developers ready to be hired. creates auctions of developers according to the job profile enterprises are looking for.

I worked in Getupcode as a full-stack developer, being in charge of the development and maintenance of their web platform, which included the design and maintenance of its database. During the time spent there, I learned to use many different technologies such as javascript, HTML, CSS, .NET, Linq, Selenium, SQL, Sencha (ExtJS)…

École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne

Exchange project (30 ECTS)

September 2019 - February 2020

I worked at the Signal Processing Laboratory 5 (LTS5) and the Medical Image Analysis Laboratory (MIAL) in an interdisciplinary medical imaging project that aims to improve the diagnosis and follow-up of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients by applying computer vision techniques to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
Together with my supervisors (Jean-Philippe Thiran and Meritxell Bach) and assistants, we developed RimNet, a network that automatically detected paramagnetic rims around MS lesions, proving itself as a promising tool to aid doctors with patients’ prognosis. The results were submitted to MIDL2020.
I particularly appreciated working in an international and multidisciplinary project with engineers, medical doctors and MRI physicists.

Universitat de Barcelona

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science

September 2014 - February 2020

With this Bachelor’s degree, I acquired a transversal knowledge on computer science. I took courses on diverse fields such as algorithms, software engineering, electronics… During the degree, I participated in several hackathons and game jams where I applied the academic knowledge in a more practical way.

Universitat de Barcelona

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics

September 2014 - February 2020

The Bachelor’s degree on Mathematics was very fruitful and boosted my computer science insights. During its course, I learned how to solve real-world problems by applying and proving theorems from algebra, topology, calculus… This provided me with the abstract reasoning that is required in a computer scientist career.
